She's designed as a Chinese-Gaff sloop configuration with a fully battened mainsail that is raisable and reefable by a single-hander working from the safety of the wheelhouse. Her mast is made of aluminium and is set in a massive steel tabernacle forward that allows easy lowering using the Windlass on the foredeck. Her sail inventory will consist of four sails: a fully battened Mainsail (1558 sq ft), Jib (323 sq ft), Storm Jib (161 sq ft) and a Riding Sail (203 sq ft). She has twin galvanized forestays and a combination of winches, clutches and cleats(titanium) to work the various sailing operations.
Engines/Electrics:

Her fuel capacity is 1,427 U.S. gallons in 4 aluminium fuel tanks. Her battery system was custom designed for WALRUS with 12 units of TROJAN 137T25 (2 volt, 1957 Ah ea) batteries, 2 NIEHOFF 290 amp alternators, 2 AMPLE POWER "Next Step" (smart) regulators, 1 GUEST 600 amp battery switch connection between banks, and 2 LINK 10/E-Meter battery monitors.
Interior:
The interior was designed for two persons for several years of continuous liveaboard and exploration in extreme climates. The engines and machineshop take up the stern section separated from the main cabin by a bulkhead and has an overhead hatch and a door leading forward. The head is immediately to starboard with a sink, toilet and a 300 gallon holding tank. Opposite is a large dinette on the portside which converts to a double guest berth. The battery bank is located under the dinette seat on centerline and is housed in specially made "tubs". The galley is forward on the port side and has double sinks, hand pumps, and 360 gallons fresh water capacity in 3 stainless tanks. Her stove/oven is a "Dickenson" Beaufort diesel with water heating coils, separate header tank and hand pump. Forward of the galley is a large double berth offset to port and forward of that is a large area dedicated as an office/workstation.
Deckhouse:
Her deckhouse was designed to provide a combination of strength, safety, comfort and maximum visibility. The wheel is forward and there are two doors on either side of the helm and chart space just in front of the wheel. All the running rigging can be controlled from inside the deckhouse, as well as, raising and lowering the leeboards. Side doors on either side of the helm give access to the deck and there is a companionway hatch and ladder leading down below. For fresh air in the deckhouse there are, besides the 2 doors, 3 overhead hatches and an opening window ahead of the helm. The whole structure is fully insulated and the windows are double layers of polycarbonate and laminated glass.
Remarks:
"Le Tranger" was designed for the present owners to go exploring and survive in extreme conditions for long periods of time away from the usual familiar shore-support. This has been a long-time dream for the owners and "Le Tranger" is for sale because of a medical situation with their family. Presently under ongoing construction in Chilliwack, BC, Canada and is available for viewing by appointment with the owner. There are detailed specs and drawings at the building site and the asking price reflects the progress to date and includes a lot of materials that have been purchased but not installed.
